The FAA Founding High School Families and Freshman came together to meet one another for the first time and to enjoy an evening of envisioning Jersey City’s most exciting new High School.

The evening began in true FAA style with a ‘morning circle’ where students introduced their family members. We then shared some exciting updates, including our plans for a student exchange program with Toronto French School, our blossoming partnerships with local sports facilities, including indoor Archery, Baseball, and Rock Climbing, and, of course, the renovations and design ideas already underway at 118 Ferry St!
We then were treated to a chocolate mousse demonstration by the renowned French chocolatier Eric Gerard. Apparently, using the Yolk instead of the egg whites gives the mouse a savory and slightly thicker texture! Choosing good chocolate is also the key!

At this point, we split the parents and students to begin involving them as co-designers of the program. Students were consulted on uniform style and colors, classroom desk shape, furniture colors, classroom layout, and more. They were animated and eager to put forward their ideas and rationale, a sign of things to come. Meanwhile, parents got to know one another, sharing their diverse family compositions and linguistic and cultural backgrounds. They discussed logistics, things they are nervous about, and how they might help one another. It was wonderful to witness this moment of families coming together to encourage and support one another.
The first cohort of students continues to grow, and applications remain open! Move fast to access Jersey City’s first bilingual, private, International Baccalaureate candidate school opening in September 2025.
