Ousmane Thiaw
4th grade – French

JERSEY CITY, NJ

Originally from Senegal, Ousmane has had the opportunity to teach in Senegal, Burkina Faso, Poland, and now in the United States.

After completing university studies, Ousmane obtained a CAP (Certificat d’Aptitude Pédagogique) and pursued further professional training in inclusive education, teaching French through theatre, supporting students with special educational needs such as autism and dyslexia, and the Reggio Emilia approach. He also holds a Master’s degree in Education and Inclusion, as well as a Master’s degree in French as a Foreign Language (FLE) with expertise in FLS (French as a Second Language) and FOS (French for Specific Purposes). With experience using manipulatives to enhance both math and language learning, and strong familiarity with the IB program, Ousmane brings a wide range of expertise into the classroom.

A passion for languages, communication, and sports inspired Ousmane to become a teacher. What he values most about teaching is seeing students grow in confidence and develop skills that serve them not only academically but also in life.

In the classroom, Ousmane hopes students discover the joy of learning, the importance of perseverance, and the ability to express themselves clearly and confidently in French.

Beyond teaching, Ousmane enjoys sports, dancing, football, traveling, and exploring new cultures. Believing that teaching is a collaborative effort between students, teachers, and parents, he strives to create a positive, motivating, and inclusive environment where every student feels valued. Always eager to share his knowledge and passion, Ousmane is equally excited to continue learning from his students as well.
