Inclusivity and diversity are at the heart of The French American Academy. Families can qualify for need-based financial aid through two sources :
01 – The French American Academy Scholarship Program
The School can offer financial aid to FAA students in all grades. The French American Academy Scholarship Program will consider the awarding of financial assistance through reduced tuition.
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need and individual student merit, determined from a range of criteria, including academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities, and good citizenship.
Applications for French American Academy Scholarships will be considered on a non-discriminatory basis without regard to race, sex, or nationality. The selection of Scholars will be made at the sole discretion of the finance committee of the school’s Board of Directors.
02 – The French government
Through the Agence pour l’enseignement du français à l’étranger (AEFE) and through the French Consulate in New York City, the French Government grants financial aid to its citizens for students in grades Pre-K3 through 12. Only French citizens are eligible for this program. Applications are available in January online.
To apply for an FAA Scholarship for an FAA student:
01 – Send a letter of request explaining the reasons for your request to the FAA Scholarship Program, with the address of your campus’s choice
02 – Include with your letter personal tax returns for both state and federal taxes with all schedules and W2’s for the two most recent calendar years.
In the case of divorce or separation, both parents are required to file an application for financial assistance. The FAA is not bound by any divorce agreement specifying a parent’s responsibility for educational expenses.
03 – To help the school make fair and objective financial aid decisions, FAA has joined Schools and Students Services by NAIS.
School and Student Services (SSS) as a trusted third party, is a service of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). Based on financial information, SSS calculates an estimate of how much a family can contribute in tuition.
To complete the questionnaire (PFS) online, go to the SSS website and click on the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) Online. There is a $55 registration fee for this service, payable online on the SSS website.
You will be asked to select a school.
All applications are considered in the strictest confidence. The school will communicate to each family its decision shortly after receiving the SSS report.
