JERSEY CITY, NJ - French American Academy Bilingual School

First opened in 2012, our Jersey City preschool, elementary, and middle school offers high-quality bilingual education for more than 200 students.

Ideally located in the historic district of Jersey City, our school is just a few blocks from the Grove Street PATH Station. Our 3-story building offers 23 classrooms with bright and natural light, warm colors, and ample space for students to develop their curiosity and become citizens of the world. Students also enjoy a huge gymnasium for physical education and indoor recess.

Our campus in Jersey City provides children with a strong foundation for becoming lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and dynamic problem solvers.

Through the dual lenses of French and English, our young students in our Jersey City Preschool learn to:

  1. Assert their personalities by discovering and exploring through playing & inquiry.
  2. Ask questions and develop a curious mind.
  3. Value effort over performance in order to develop growth mindsets.

Catherine Prie Leray
Management & Administration

Graduated from the French National Education and holding a master’s degree in management, – Specialization Management and development of academic organizations, I first served as primary school teacher and then as Principal or Head of school. I worked for 26 years in France for the National Education. Over the years, I have always worked with teams to create a welcoming environment for everyone – students and teachers and parents – in which students can reach their potential and ensure that all experience success in a school culture that inspires dreams, develops compassion, and opens minds. In August 2017, we moved in North Carolina, and I immediately began working as teacher in a French American bilingual school in Raleigh. Then, I was employed by a bilingual High school in Houston for a specific mission: provide instructional leadership for the school’s K-12 programs and therefore restructure the French program to focus on its academic implementation while creating a link to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) to ensure that high school students have a dual opportunity for further education.
