Q: What first inspired you to become a teacher, and what brings you the most joy in the classroom?

I have always enjoyed caring for children, and I chose this demanding profession to help them grow, become independent, and learn many things. I enjoy supporting them in their discoveries, and what touches me the most is seeing them arrive in class every morning with a smile. Their progress, even the smallest steps, is a true source of joy for me.

Q: What is one activity or project with your PK3 students that you especially enjoy?

At the moment, I especially enjoy our morning routine, in which the children begin writing their first names using movable letters. They are very proud of it. They feel like they are becoming grown-ups. I also enjoy all the moments we share together. I love seeing them take an interest in the stories we read, observing their curiosity, enthusiasm, and progress.

Q: How has teaching in France shaped the way you teach young students here in New Jersey?

In France, I taught as a specialized teacher in academic adaptation and support for students with disabilities. This experience taught me to constantly adapt my teaching practices to the needs of each child. Here in New Jersey, I continue to use this individualized approach. I combine it with a clear structure, stable routines, and a reassuring environment. This allows each student to progress at their own pace while feeling supported and valued.

Q: Is there a project or theme this year that you’re especially excited to explore with your class?

This year, we are working on traditional folk dances, a project that the children love and often ask for with great enthusiasm. It is a wonderful way to discover new ways of dancing while having fun. Traditional dances allow children to explore history, customs, and different cultures, even at a young age. They also help them learn respect for and appreciation of cultural diversity.

Q: Can you share a memorable moment you’ve had with your students?

A memorable moment was when the entire class worked together perfectly during a safety drill. They followed the instructions calmly and seriously, and I was extremely proud of their growing sense of responsibility and solidarity.

Q: What advice would you give your PK3 students as they continue to grow and learn?

I would tell them: Be curious, never be afraid to try, and always believe in yourself. Every small step helps you grow.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being part of the French American Academy?

What I appreciate most at the French American Academy is the warm atmosphere and cultural diversity. The children grow in a bilingual environment that truly opens them to the world. I also enjoy working with a dedicated team, where everyone does their best to support students every day. It feels good to be there, and it is pleasant to teach in such an environment.

Q: What is a fun fact about you that families may not know?

A fun anecdote: I am originally from Reims, a beautiful French city known for its cathedral, the coronation of kings, its Art Deco architecture, and especially its champagne. I love chocolate very much, and more surprisingly, I also enjoy metal music.

Q: What’s one thing you’re currently enjoying in your life outside of school?

I love traveling, visiting places, discovering museums, and admiring architecture. Since I am French, I cook a lot, and I enjoy sharing my dishes with my friends. It is a true pleasure for me.

Q: If you weren’t a teacher, what do you think you’d be doing?

If I were not a teacher, I would work either in an environment surrounded by children or in the cultural or artistic field, while always keeping a connection with children. Being with them is where I truly feel in my place, and I would want my work to continue inspiring and supporting them in one way or another.
