This week, our middle school students learned how pilots actually think: we filed a flight plan, ran cross-country simulator flights from airport to airport, and practiced low-fuel emergency landings. When we weren’t flying, we were building, using Raspberry Pi 5 and Arduino circuit boards to sharpen hardware and software engineering skills.
Want to try it yourself?
Come fly a 15-minute Cessna 172 simulator session with one of our certified flight instructors during our Flight Simulator Demo Day; on Saturday, Feb 28 (1–3pm) at 118 Ferry Street, in Jersey City! Perfect for adults and kids of all ages!
Join us and see if you have what it takes to be a pilot!

Brewing up a greener future in the lab! 🌱🔬⛽
Our High School students are taking hands-on science to the next level by exploring sustainable energy solutions. In their latest chemistry lab, they studied the biological process of alcoholic fermentation using yeast to convert sugars into ethanol.
But they didn`t stop there!
To purify their creation, students then set up and performed a precise distillation of the ethanol.
The ultimate goal of this experiment?
Understanding how these exact chemical processes are used in the real world to produce renewable biofuels for vehicles!
This fantastic project perfectly bridges the gap between theoretical chemistry and real-world environmental problem-solving.
We love seeing our future scientists tackle tomorrow`s challenges today. 🌍💡

Innovation is igniting in the Makerspace! 💡💻⚖️
Our Jersey City Downtown students are diving headfirst into the world of tech and engineering!
Let there be light! 🔦
Our Grade 5 students developed their very first mobile app: a fully functional Flashlight App.
By writing their own lines of code, they learned how to make a digital button work in the real world. There is nothing quite like the thrill of seeing your very own code come to life and actually work!
Meanwhile, our 3rd graders engineered and constructed their own physical balances. ⚖️
This hands-on project is a fantastic introduction to the concepts of weight, symmetry, and physics, proving that learning is always better when you build it yourself.

Celebrating rich traditions and global voices! 🌍✨
Since the beginning of the year, our Englewood preschool students have been embarking on a beautiful journey through their project, "Learning, What a Great Adventure."
They have been diving deep into African cultural heritage and as we celebrate Black History Month this February, it is the perfect moment to highlight their wonderful exploration of Cameroonian culture!
Through the magic of storytelling, this immersive project helps our youngest learners build empathy and celebrate global diversity, all while progressing across subjects like math, language, and art.
Here is a peek at their hands-on learning:
Literacy & Language: Students are proudly producing their own texts! They are creating posters, practicing word manipulation, and writing short sentences inspired by traditional tales. ✍️📚
Global Connections: Using new technology, our class actually called children in Cameroon! Each student had the amazing opportunity to ask questions and share a beautiful cross-cultural exchange in both French and English. 📞💬
Art & Movement: The classroom is alive with color and sound as students explore vibrant African fabrics, paint traditional dancers, and move to the rhythms of the continent. 🎨🎶
The excitement continues to build as the children eagerly await a special visit from Tonton Mdoa, a talented storyteller and musician.
To welcome him, they have even collaboratively written an American story especially for him to take home! 📖
It is a true treasure to watch them discover the world, honor diverse cultures, and learn with such joy every single day. 🌟💚💛❤️

🌟 Parent Spotlight: Liesbeth Huysmans on Raising a Third Culture Kid at the FAA
Originally from Belgium, Liesbeth shares why continuing Emilie’s education in both French and English was essential for their family. At the FAA, Emilie has stayed connected to her European roots while gaining independence in middle school, building cultural awareness, and engaging in experiences like field trips, eco-delegates, and Model UN.
“Like most FAA students, Emilie is a true Third Culture Kid who doesn’t fit into any tight boxes, which can be both a blessing and a curse. It’s nice to see the students connect across different cultures and celebrate rather than judge cultural differences.” – Liesbeth Huysmans
