🖼️✨ Art, Activism, and Inspiration at the MoMA!
Our 9th graders recently took their learning beyond the classroom with an incredible field trip across the river to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City! 🗽🎨
This exciting visit officially kicked off their brand-new interdisciplinary sequence combining Art and French, centered around a powerful and timely theme: « Art et activisme » (Art and Activism).
Here is why this interdisciplinary approach is so impactful:
Critical Thinking: Students are exploring how artists use their platforms and mediums to challenge societal norms, spark difficult conversations, and drive social change.
Bilingual Analysis: By merging French and Visual Arts, our high schoolers are expanding their vocabulary and learning to debate complex cultural themes fluently in both languages.
Real-World Connection: Seeing iconic, thought-provoking modern works up close brings their classroom discussions to life in a way that reading a textbook simply cannot!
We cannot wait to see the brilliant projects, deep reflections, and engaging bilingual debates that will emerge from this sequence.
Way to go, Grade 9! 🗣️🖌️

Comparative grammar… in Kindergarten?
Yes, you read that right. 🤯🇺🇸🇫🇷
At The French American Academy, our 5-year-olds are already comparing how English and French work.
This innovative approach is exactly why our school was named a Laureate of the Palme de la Promotion Linguistique.
So what does it look like in class?
🔎 Little language detectives – Students explore how sounds and sentences are built in both languages.
🎨 Visual cues & color coding – They discover patterns like “the blue car” in English vs “la voiture bleue” in French.
🎶 Songs, stories & play – Comparing the two languages helps them build a deep and intuitive understanding of both.
Watching young minds grasp two languages so naturally is where the foundation of true bilingualism begins. ✨🧠
Come see it in action. Book a school tour – Link in Bio!

Happy Math Week! ✖️➗➕➖
Let`s kick off the celebrations with a massive shoutout to our incredible 4th and 5th graders in Englewood!
Did you know our students are champions in mental math? 🏆🌍
We are thrilled to share that our 4th and 5th grade classes have taken 1st place not once, not twice, but three times in the AEFE schools ranking of the Mathador competition!
Competing against schools within the AEFE network, our students showcased incredible speed, logic, and problem-solving skills to secure the absolute top spot in the world rankings.
Why this is such a big deal:
Global Scale: They competed against top-tier French international schools across the globe.
Mental Agility: The Mathador challenge requires quick thinking, reverse-calculation, and sharp number sense.
Bilingual Brainpower: Mastering complex math concepts in a bilingual environment gives our students a unique cognitive edge!
Mastering math is no easy feat, but our students continue to prove that with dedication, teamwork, and excellent bilingual instruction, the possibilities are infinite! ♾️✨
Join us in congratulating our amazing mathletes in the comments below! 👏🎉

Empowering our educators to support the whole child! 🧠💡🤝
Over the past two days, we had the great privilege of hosting Nicolas Louisot, a Secondary School Teacher Trainer in Life and Earth Sciences (SVT) for the North America region.
He led our teaching teams from all three campuses through an incredibly valuable two-day professional development workshop!
The focus of this collaborative training was the implementation of the French Ministry of Education`s new developmental programs:
EVAR (Primary School): Education in Emotional and Relationship Development
EVARS (Secondary School): Education in Emotional, Relationship, and Sexual Development
These modern, age-appropriate, and progressive frameworks provide a structured approach to addressing these essential topics from preschool all the way through high school.
What does this mean for our students?
Moving forward, every grade level will participate in three dedicated bilingual sessions each year to explore these important subjects in a safe, supportive environment.
Partnering with our parents:
We believe that emotional and relational education is a team effort! Information regarding these sessions will always be shared with families in advance.
This ensures continuity and a strong collaboration between our school and your home. (Parents: You can also learn more about this framework online by searching "EVARS Affiche Parents" on the Eduscol website!)
